The customer’s software supports various web servers, database servers, and browsers as well as multiple versions of PHP on multiple operating system platforms. Furthermore, the customer’s software itself is offered in three different editions of its feature-rich application. The challenge for the customer is the application with clear visibility into the feature test coverage and regression test coverage for multiple stacks of software consisting of web servers, database servers, browsers, and operating systems. The company chose Augmentum for our test methodologies, ability to provide gap analyses of features vs. test coverage and test traceability matrix, along with manual and automated execution of test cases.

Engagement

Augmentum conducted gap analyses of features and current test coverage and provided a test traceability matrix along with thousands of additional test cases to close the gap in test coverage in 6 weeks. At the same time, Augmentum contributed to releasing time critical patches with prioritized execution of regression test cases.

Business Imperative

The company’s engineering team needed more development resources and additional skill sets to support their growth. In addition, their current quality assurance team could not support the simultaneous releases on multiple platforms required by an increasing number of enterprise customers. However, the company had been concerned that the complexity of their search technology and the demands of their test plans would be too difficult for other offshore vendors with background primarily in IT services rather than product development. In addition to product development, Augmentum now provides maintenance and quality assurance to the engineering team in a number of areas including connectivity, Microsoft product integration, and internal framework. We have successfully delivered a number of releases on multiple platforms in 18 months. Augmentum participates in all phases of product development cycle, including product requirements, technical/functional specification, architecture/design, implementation and development/execution of test plans.
